The manual outlines a three-day training programme which aims at providing Trainers with the necessary tools for planning, designing, and conducting effective training programmes. The manual has been designed for use by both facilitators and participants. Facilitators will use the manual to prepare and conduct the sessions. Participants will use the manual as a reference tool both during and after the training.
The workshop focuses on the “how to” of designing, delivering, and evaluating training sessions and programs. Participants will not only learn about the principles of training, they will also have a number of opportunities in the 3 days to put these principles into practice by preparing and delivering actual training sessions. The expectation is that participants will use the principles, and what they learn in the practice sessions, as a basis for planning, designing and facilitating training programmes in their work environment.
By the end of the training programme, participants should be able to:
- Planning Training: assessing training needs, planning training process, using adult-learning principles, writing outcome statements, and training evaluation and follow-up.
- Designing Training: designing training using Kolb’s four learning styles and over design options.
- Organizing Training: organizing for a workshop, writing an agenda, preparing materials, and communicating with your sponsor and end-user clients before the training begins.
Delivering Training: creating a positive learning climate, managing participating, presentation and demonstration techniques, facilitation and questioning skills, managing workshop time, dealing with resistance.
